In 1970-1980, Lengiprotrans developed a project for rebuilding the narrow-gauge line Svencheneliai - Utena - Panevezys to a wide track of 1520 mm.
In the course of the work, geotechnical surveys and exploration of open pits at the site were carried out, a production well for water was prepared.
The following objects were designed on the site:
• track complex of the Utena - Rubikiai section: reconstruction of 0.4 kV overhead lines, crossings of air-cable communication lines and radio;
• external communication and radio networks, removal of heating systems at Utena station;
• railway tracks and an overpass at 79 km of the Rubikiai - Anykščay section;
• track part with the removal of the road from the construction site of Anykshchay station;
• elimination of deformation of the roadbed at pickets 1495-1496.
• electrical interlocking, subgrade, superstructure and artificial structures at Rubikiai station.
