May 13, 2020 Lengiprotrans (part of the 1520 Group of Companies) turns 85. Its history is rich with significant events, and the names of outstanding employees, known for their conscientious work and high achievements, are associated with it.
On May 13, 1935, the People's Commissar of Railways of the USSR, Lazar Moiseevich Kaganovich, signed Order No. 117 / C "On improving the design and estimate business in railway Transport", according to which the All-Union Design and Survey Association Soyuztransproekt was formed with subordination to the Central Department of Railway Construction of the People's Commissariat of Railways of the Soviet Union — it was abbreviated as Tsuzheldorstroy. It was planned to open seven integrated branches in a number of major cities of the country.
Lentransproekt was formed as the Leningrad branch of Soyuztransproekt on the basis of 4 design and survey organizations: Lenproektput, Izstrom, Leniziskput and Lenzhdiz. In 1951, the institute received the name Lengiprotrans, which it has retained to this day.

During the Great Patriotic War, the staff of the institute did not stop working. Some of them served in the Department of Military Reconstruction Works. Others, as soon as the war began, went to the front to defend Leningrad. The contribution of all of them to the overall Victory is huge.
As for the projects of Lengiprotrans, according to them, more than 40 000 km of new railways and second tracks, more than 2 000 km of highways have been built, 15 000 km of railways have been electrified, reconstruction of many railway nodes, thousands of bridges and overpasses, objects of locomotive and wagon economy and construction industry, more than a hundred railway stations, access roads to large metallurgical, coal, oil and gas enterprises were built, railway approaches to seaports on the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea were equipped, as well as many other complex, significant and interesting objects.
The facilities designed by Lengiprotrans are located in a wide area from the Murmansk region and Yamal to Turkmenistan and from Ukraine to the Sakhalin region.
Over the past 85 years, according to general estimates, up to 7 000 people have worked in Lengiprotrans. Many of the Institute's employees were awarded state awards and departmental insignia.
Among the most significant awards of Lengiprotrans are the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Memorial Sign "For Labor and Valor" with entry on the Honor Board of the VDNH of the USSR, the Jubilee sign "For the 50th anniversary of the formation of the USSR", diplomas and certificates of honor of the Administrations of St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, diplomas of the laureate of the national public award of the transport industry "Golden Chariot" in the category "Leader of construction of transport facilities in Russia", certificates of honor of JSC Russian Railways as well as October, Northern and other railways.
Currently, JSC Lengiprotrans is one of the largest design organizations in Russia in the field of engineering surveys and design of modern transport infrastructure, using modern technologies and scientific and technical achievements. New horizons are ahead, and Lengiprotrans intends to maintain its leading role among the industrial design organizations of the Russian Federation.
