The non-public railway line Bovanenkovo - Sabetta will be the final link in the exit of the Northern latitudinal railway (Obskaya-2 - Salekhard - Nadym - Pangody - Novy Urengoy - Korotchaevo) to the Northern Sea Route, which will provide a connection between the general railway network and the shortest sea route between the European part Russia and the Far East.
In addition, the railway line is necessary for the delivery of goods and crews to the port of Sabetta, to the gas condensate fields of the Yamal Peninsula and for the export of liquid hydrocarbons.
The project documentation developed by Lengiprotrans in 2015 provides:
• construction of the Razezd 25 - Karskaya railway line with a length of 174.5 km;
• construction of new stations Razezd 25 (at km 0) and Sabetta (at km 171) with a useful length of receiving and departure tracks of 850 m, with the necessary complex of buildings and structures;
• construction of sidings 27, 29, 31, 33, 35 (sidings of the first stage) and 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 (sidings of the second stage) with a useful length of receiving-departure tracks of 850 m, with the necessary complex of buildings and structures.
The track development of the Razezd 25 station was carried out taking into account the adjoining to the tracks of the Obskaya - Bovanenkovo railway line. The track development of the Sabetta station has been carried out taking into account the possible contiguity of other access roads.
The project includes not only the construction of the road itself, but also the infrastructure - reception and departure and marshalling yards, a junction station, a locomotive depot, rotational complexes, passenger platforms and a railway station at Sabetta station.
