St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Moskovsky is a large marshalling yard of the Oktyabrskaya railway, stretching in the southeast of the city from the central part and further beyond the Ring Road. It was built in 1879 and is one of the oldest stations in Russia.
In the 2000s, within the framework of the reconstruction of the St. Petersburg railway junction, Lengiprotrans carried out work to update the station. The main goal is to organize work on the maintenance of freight trains to ensure extended warranty travel distances (up to 1200 km).
According to the results of the project, the calculated daily program of maintenance of freight trains at the station was as follows: for an even marshalling system - 55 trains, for an odd marshalling system - 42 trains. The average daily program of current uncoupling repair is 120 cars.
The following works were carried out at the station:
• organization of points for diagnostics of the technical condition of cars during the movement of freight trains on the approaches to the station St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Moskovsky;
• organization of a unified dispatching center for control of wagon facilities at the station;
• construction of points for uncoupling repair of cars in odd and even marshalling systems of the station;
• strengthening of the existing communication devices, signaling and power supply of the station wagon facilities;
• construction of engineering networks and communications for main and auxiliary facilities in the required volume.
