On May 25, Ladozhsky railway station celebrates its anniversary - 15 years since its opening.
The most modern railway station in St. Petersburg was opened in 2003, 18 years after the development of its first project. Lengiprotrans (part of the 1520 Group of Companies) was the creator of both station projects.
The idea to build a new railway junction and a transit station on the site of Dolgorukov's Dacha cargo junction arose in the 1960s. In the 1980s, the institute's engineers worked on the project of the Ladozhskaya metro station, which was a single complex with the railway station. Then the project was suspended: the metro station was put into operation in 1985, and the station was not implemented, the tunnels and passages leading to the station were mothballed. But the relevance of the project was not lost - it was necessary to unload the existing passenger stations St. Petersburg-Glavny and St. Petersburg-Finlyandsky, the development of which was hampered by territorial conditions. In 2001, a decision was made to build the Ladozhsky railway station and a new passenger station for the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg.
All stations in St. Petersburg are dead-end, only Ladozhsky is a transit station.
Since the tightness of the section for the construction of the station and the impossibility of stopping the transit traffic of trains did not allow the building to be erected in the usual way - along the railway tracks, a unique solution was used in the project of the Ladozhsky station complex: the technology of receiving and sending trains is carried out inside the structure of the station. Thus, the station, instead of the traditional "coastal type" station, is an innovative construction that combines a railway station-bridge and a station-tunnel. The long-distance station rose above the track facilities in the form of a concourse, and the suburban one was located below ground level and was entirely given over to rail and city transport. The three levels of the station complex are vertically connected both functionally - by stairs, ramps, escalators, and visually - by huge light wells.
Not only the design, but also the construction of the station was complicated by the building density. The lower level of the complex was built underground next to the working metro station, without stopping the work of the subway.
Nevertheless, the station was built in 23 months. This is a record time for such a construction.
Long-distance passenger trains of the north-eastern directions and suburban trains of the Sosnovsky direction were transferred to the station Petersburg-Ladozhsky. The station complex is designed to service 50 pairs of commuter and 26 pairs of long-distance trains daily.
The project of the station complex was awarded the Grand Prix in the category "Particularly significant social projects" at the international festival "Zodchestvo 2001" in Moscow.
On May 25, 2003, the official opening of a new modern complex took place, since then it has been called Ladozhsky Railway Station.
