September 28, 2020 JSC Lengiprotrans (part of the 1520 Group of Companies) received FAI Glavgosexpertiza positive conclusion on the construction of the second track on the Pulozero — Lapland section.

Single-track section Pulozero — Laplandia is located at 1351–1364 km of the Murmansk — Volkhovstroy line. The Murmansk — Olenegorsk section, where the section is located, is a single-track with double-track inserts, its capacity hinders the passage of the existing and prospective train traffic to the operating and construction ports located in the northern part of the Kola Peninsula.
The design documentation provides for the construction of a second main track with a length of 10.16 km with an extension of the receiving and departure tracks at the Laplandia and Pulozero stations up to 1050 m, replacing the existing CBI relay system with a microprocessor-based MPTs-EL. During the reconstruction of the stations, passenger and service platforms, heating points for track fitters, CBI posts will also be built, noise protection screens will be installed, the territory will be landscaped with pedestrian paths and lawns.
The design was supervised by Nikolai Evgenievich Polyakov, Deputy Chief Project Engineer of the Railway Survey and Design Department. The developer and source of financing is Russian Railways OJSC. The construction period will be 2.5 years.
The investment project "Murmansk — Petrozavodsk, construction of second public railways" is being implemented in accordance with the orders of the Government of Russia on the development of railway infrastructure on the approaches to the ports of North-West Russia and the construction of the Sea Trade Port Lavna.
