The Mikun - Syktyvkar railway line is a dead-end branch of the Northern Railway. In the late 1950s, the USSR government decided to build it. The project of the line was developed by the specialists of Lengiprotrans.
One of the significant objects of the route is the bridge crossing over the Vychegda river, combined for rail and road traffic.
The railway connected the capital of the Komi Republic with the main route of the Northern Railway. Together with the construction of the road, the working village of Mikun also grew. In 1959, he received the status of a city. In 1961, the first passenger train arrived there from Syktyvkar. With the beginning of the movement of trains, Mikun station became a railway junction.
