The railway line Tselinograd - Ekibastuz - Pavlodar is a part of the South Siberian Railway. During the Soviet period, this section was the most heavily loaded, which necessitated the construction of second tracks. Lengiprotrans has developed design documentation for this facility.
In addition, a further increase in cargo traffic was planned on the line in connection with the strengthening of economic ties between Western Siberia and Central and Northern Kazakhstan and the development of the Ekibastuz coal basin. The decision on the construction was made by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of August 27, 1970 No. 78.
The second paths were designed according to the norms of category I, which presupposed the provision of basic nationwide relations within and outside the country.
A number of works were carried out at the facility:
• development of precinct and marshalling yards with bringing the length of receiving and departure tracks up to 1050 m;
• construction of railway and road junctions on the approaches to large stations (Pavlodar, Ekibastuz, Maikain);
• creation of separate points on a double-track scheme and addition of tracks in parks;
• installation of automatic crossing signaling and point cleaning systems using compressed air;
• development of service, technical, administrative, residential and cultural and utility buildings with a centralized heating system.
In 1967-1968, surveys were carried out and a design assignment was drawn up. In 1969-1975, the construction of the facility was carried out.
